Helping the Soldier Puppies!

I stole this from Laurie Kendrick over at the new News 92 FM.

Military dogs play a critical role in helping keep our servicemen and women safe overseas. US Military K-9 Fund, a Houston organization, seeks your help to thank these war dogs — and their handlers — with care packages. Not just during the holidays, but year-round.

Members of the US Military K-9 Fund will be out at the Cougar Christmas Market this weekend if you’d like to meet them up close and personal. It’s at the Cypress-Fairbanks Exhibit Center 11206 Telge Road @ 290 West. Admission and Parking are FREE. The market is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, and Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday.

Ann Morrison says the idea for the fund came about a year and a half ago. Since that time, they’ve sent out nearly 200 care packages to military dogs deployed with the troops in the Middle East. A critical part of the packages is canine military gear. Morrison explained cash donations are used to purchase that specialized equipment. But there are items you can donate for the care packages. She said the packages make a difference and pick up the recipients’ spirits.

The need for these packages never ends and can mean life or death for these four legged soldiers. If you would like to help, visit the organization’s Web site to learn more.
