I'm Older & I Have More Insurance

One of my favorite movie lines ever comes from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes". As I get older I often use it when some young whipper-snapper does something I find annoying. Here's the clip where the character played by Kathy Bates loses a parking spot to a young, belligerent woman in a VW bug. Catch the last line in this clip.

Just now my phone rang. I answered it and even stayed on the line when I discovered it was some random survey call. It was a woman who was taking a survey about movie going habits in my area. I go to the movies several times a month. I obviously am a movie fan who spends money regularly on first run films. You'd think a prime candidate for info on any movie survey.

When I told her I go to the movies several times a month she seemed very excited. When she asked my age and I told her 45...the questions came to a sudden end.

I was too old for her survey questions.

Tomorrow I'll be going to see "The Bee Movie" and have plans to see "No Country For Old Men" the day it is released. I went to the movie theatre 3 times in October and one IMAX show too. But that doesn't make me enough of a movie going fan for her survey company. My age, not my habits, were more important to them.

I hope they were as important to the people who paid for or buy the survey results.
